Town of Saugerties
Historic Preservation Commission
Historic House Tour

TOUR INFORMATION

Welcome to the website for the fourth annual Saugerties Historic House Tour.  This year the tour will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 and will focus on the area known as Flatbush.  The Historic Flatbush House Tour will feature properties found in the Town of Saugerties and the Town of Ulster and will offer an historic perspective of this largely agrarian community.

Your host for the tour is the Town of Saugerties HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION. The Commission was established in 2004 by the Town of Saugerties, under provisions of Municipal Law and the National Preservation Act of 1966, to protect the historic resources within its boundaries.  In 2005, the Town of Saugerties Historic Preservation Commission, with a grant from The Preservation League of New York State and the assistance of many volunteers, documented Saugerties historic treasures, including over 65 stone houses. This tome serves as a resource for future designations as well as a reference to the significant architectural and cultural properties that constitute the heritage of the Town of Saugerties. Since its inception, the Historic Preservation Commission has designated ten properties as Town Landmarks.  Three of these Landmarks have now been included on our tours thus stimulating attention and fostering civic pride in the historic resources of Saugerties.
